My name is Carolina Montenegro Ramírez and I am from El Salvador. My native language is Spanish, but at the early age of 7 I attended first and second grade in Germany to learn the language. Afterwards, I returned to my home country and attended the German School of San Salvador. I returned to Germany in 1997 in order to study Economic Science. My passion for Economics did not end there, as I furthered my studies at an English speaking Grad School and achieved a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.
I met my future husband in 2003, a US-American whom I married in 2006 and with whom I have been speaking in English ever since. This made English a very important part of my life as well.
When I became pregnant with my first child in 2011, I realized that I wanted to do something to utilize my strength in languages and my studies in Economics, as well as enjoy being a mother. So I decided to pursue a degree as a certified translator for Spanish and German, which I achieved with honors in 2013 after balancing motherhood, studies and a second pregnancy.
I realize now that languages are a wonderful gift to my children, as raising them in Germany provides them with a strong foundation in German, Spanish and English. Watching them grow up learning and sorting out the three languages in their lives has been rewarding. Both have understood each from an early age and are able to distinguish the correct language to speak to the correct person.
I’m very pleased to be able to work with languages as they are very important to me and they make me very happy.
